Saylor-Beall 5 HP Pressure-Lubricated 735 & 737 Series
The 5 HP range is where Saylor-Beall transitions into true heavy-duty industrial performance. Both the 735 and 737 series utilize 5 HP motors, but they use different pump sizes to achieve different performance goals.
Comparison: 735 vs. 737 Models
While both are 5 HP units, the primary difference is the pump displacement and operating speed.
- 735 Series: Uses the Model 705 pump. This is the standard industrial configuration. It runs at a higher RPM to deliver high CFM, making it a powerful, cost-effective choice for busy automotive and fabrication shops.
- 737 Series: Uses the significantly larger Model 707 pump (typically found on 7.5 HP–10 HP units). By pairing this oversized pump with a 5 HP motor, it runs at a much lower RPM. This results in cooler operating temperatures, lower noise levels, and an extreme service life.
Tank & Configuration Options
Both models are available in multiple layouts to suit your facility’s requirements:
- Horizontal Tank: The standard for stability and ease of maintenance.
- Vertical Tank (VT): Ideal for saving floor space in tight shops.
- Tank Sizes: Offered in 60, 80, or 120-gallon capacities. The 120-gallon tank is highly recommended for these 5 HP units to provide a substantial air reserve and reduce motor wear.
Lubrication Systems
- Splash-Lubricated: The standard, reliable mechanical oiling system using dippers.
- Pressure-Lubricated (PL): Features a dedicated oil pump and spin-on oil filter. This setup forces filtered oil to critical bearings, making it the superior choice for high-dust environments or continuous-duty manufacturing.
The Performance Package
To turn these units into a “plug-and-play” industrial solution, the Performance Package can be added:
- Air-Cooled Aftercooler: Removes heat and moisture from the air before it enters your lines.
- Automatic Tank Drain: Eliminates the need for manual daily draining by purging water automatically.
- Low Oil Level Switch: Safely shuts down the motor if oil levels drop, protecting the pump from damage.
