Saylor-Beall 7.5 HP Splash-Lubricated Duplex Air Compressors
The Saylor-Beall 7.5 HP Duplex series is a high-capacity industrial solution designed for facilities that require substantial air volume and consistent uptime. By utilizing two 7.5 HP motors and two heavy-duty Model 707 pumps, these duplex systems provide massive airflow with built-in redundancy.
The 707 Pump Advantage
At the heart of every 7.5 HP model is the Model 707 pump. This is a 4-cylinder, 2-stage V-configuration pump known for its “overbuilt” design.
- Massive Airflow: A single pump delivers approximately 26.9 CFM @ 175 PSI. In a duplex configuration, with both pumps running, the system can output up to 53.8 CFM.
- V-4 Design: The 4-cylinder layout provides superior balance, reducing vibration and mechanical stress compared to smaller 2-cylinder pumps.
- Slow-Speed Longevity: These pumps are designed to run at a lower RPM (typically 650 RPM) than competing brands. This results in lower operating temperatures and significantly less wear on internal components.
Lubrication Options
Splash-Lubricated (Standard)
The standard 745 Duplex series uses splash lubrication. It is the ideal choice for stationary applications where the unit will remain level and operate under standard industrial duty cycles.
- Simple Maintenance: Uses oil dippers on the connecting rods to distribute lubricant.
- Proven Reliability: With fewer moving parts than a pressurized system, it remains the shop standard for reliability.
Pressure-Lubricated (Premium)
The PL-745 Duplex series features a positive displacement oil pump that forces filtered oil directly to the crankshaft and connecting rods.
- Extreme Duty: Recommended for multi-shift operations or environments where the compressor is under near-constant load.
- Added Protection: Includes an automotive-style spin-on oil filter to keep the lubricant free of contaminants, ensuring a longer lifespan for the bearings and journals.

Why Choose the 7.5 HP Duplex?
Moving to the 7.5 HP duplex is about more than just extra air; it’s about moving to the Model 707 platform.
- Redundancy: If one motor or pump requires maintenance, the alternator control panel automatically switches to the second unit, ensuring your shop never runs out of air.
- Peak Demand Handling: For most of the day, a single pump may handle the load. When demand spikes, the second pump kicks in to maintain system pressure.
- Industrial Foundation: The 707 pump is also used on 10 HP models. At 7.5 HP, it is essentially “under-stressed,” leading to a service life that is measured in decades, not years.
