Refrigerated dryers are designed to chill compressed air to 33 to 40 degrees (F) this condenses the water vapor to a liquid state that can be removed from the compressed air system via drain. Air is then usually heated back to room temperature before proceeding to the next step in the compressed air system.

Membrane dryers use permeable membranes to extract water vapor from the supplied air. Membrane Dryers are very convenient to use, extremely cost-effective and with no moving parts they require less maintenance than traditional dryers. Membrane dryers are only suitable for lower volume applications.
